Our Pink Pony has been invited to run play activities for the visitors of the Hackney Summer Fete 2015. It was an honour for the Pink Pony to take part in this community event at the place where the Pony was born, East London!

For this playground we teamed-up with our Hackney-based friend The Magic Depictor and designed three different dynamics that aimed at creating meaningful new connections between people who live in the same borough but don’t know each other. We called it Collective Portrait Party.

In this playground we invited people to make portraits of themselves using different media, but also to make a collective portrait of Hackney in the summer of 2015 using memories and songs.

Activities included: Portraits of the visitors by The Magic Depictor; a Speed Drawing Party (like a speed dating, but with drawings!); Balloons Portrait Workshops; and an open invitation to share how Hackney in the summer of 2015 will be remembered, whether by writing a future memory or by sharing a song to create a collective soundtrack.

Number of players: 80

Ages: 03 – 65

Portraits made: 98

New hashtags created: 1, #balloonfie

#Balloonfies drew: 45

Future memories shared: 32

Songs for the soundtracks collected: 12, perfect!

what they say

I had a lot of fun and it was nice watching adults let go and having fun like children, also I get to meet a couple of neighbours!

Katharine W., Part of the Hackney Summer Fete organising team

“ I had the pleasure to play with The Pink Pony gang at the Hackney Fete and it was a great experience! They give you the chance of connecting with your inner child again. Expect very good vibes, creativity and a lot of fun! Don't ever forget to play! :)

Meritxell Taboada Zamora, Master in balloonfies

“ This was my first time collaborating with The Pink Pony and it was great. I joined the team as I was looking to do something meaningful besides work and voilà, I have found a perfect and fun match!
