During the course of a single month, the Pony worked with the residents of Regent Estate in East London to imagine and draw their dreams for their neighbourhood.
Hand-in-hand with Clear Village Charitable Trust and the residents of the E8 community, we worked with children of the local school, and we also set a local drawing station just outside the Estate for a total of seven days. Word of mouth was key for the diffusion of this initiative along the Estate.
While the drawings of the residents were being painted and collected, the Pony shared some of the resident’s dreams in Good, and invited artists and dreamers from all over the world to help the residents make their dreams come true. We received drawings from several parts of the United States, Finland, Switzerland and, of course, Paris!
At the end of the week, we co-organised with the residents an ephemeral exhibition, which formed part of La Grande Lessive on the 27th and 28th March 2014. The dreams of the residents from Regent Estate, along with the ones from our international friends, were exhibited for two days - creating an amazing (and somehow possible) global neighbourhood. During these two days we counted on the collaboration of the amazing bakers of Free Cakes for Kids Hackney - who generously baked for us cakes in the shape of rainbows, Banksy art works and colour palettes; the neighbours of the Estate - who offered their help and drawing skills; and members of Workshop 44, who helped with every detail of the organisation of the event.
