Hello lovely readers. Welcome to our third Pony Insider, the space where we write about inspirational things we have seen, read, heard or places we have visited. Great things that have the power to change a bit the way we look at the world.

This week Marie is sharing some inspiration from the art and film world, and how this shapes the way we work, think and play at The Pink Pony. We hope they'll inspire you too!

High Maintenance, or the art to look at humans

High Maintenance season 1 : Matilda

Our friends from The Procrastinator Some Times recommended this new American webseries to us, and we immediately fell in love with it. Indeed, a very important part of the creative / design-thinking process we use at The Pink Pony involves observing and listening to people, to be able to design meaningful and playful experiences. And this is precisely what this web series does really well: observation. The main character, a weed dealer equipped with a great sense of empathy, listening and emotional intelligence, manages to make us see and feel life through the eyes of each one of the characters he visits, creating a beautiful and honest picture of Brooklyn and its residents. Truly inspiring.

You can watch the first season of High Maintenance for free here. The second season is available on Vimeo On Demand.

‘Mapping the City’ at Somerset House London

Mapping the city Vigo

At The Pink Pony we LOVE maps. We believe maps are a great way for people to engage actively with their environment making it their own. That's why we visited the 'Mapping the city' exhibition at Somerset House in February that showcased maps created by international artists who gave a personal and unique approach to their city, real or imaginary. Unfortunately the exhibition is no longer on, but if you come and play with us, we promise you loads of interactive map-making!

‘Guy Bourdin: Image Maker’ at Somerset House London

Guy Bourdin Image Maker

Guy Bourdin 'Image maker' at Somerset House London

No doubt Guy Bourdin is a (very) playful (and French) photographer, but he is also a rebel, an innovator and (another) great observer. That's what we discovered at the Guy Bourdin 'Image Maker' exhibition at Somerset House. Even when working for corporate fashion giants Bourdin was able to keep his playful, rebellious spirit. Indeed, his motto was 'Disturb first, then delight'. In this exhibition at Somerset House, we can see Bourdin playing around with a pair of (fake) legs to tell the story of Modern Britain. This brilliant storytelling technique is very likely to inspire some of our upcoming playgrounds!

The exhibition will be up until March 15th. Info and booking here.

Traveling in time at Ziferblat London

Ziferblat-London-6.jpg

We visited Ziferblat London on a very rainy Sunday afternoon in February. After what it felt like a very long walk under the rain, we eventually found the entrance under the railways in Shoreditch and immediately felt like transported in time (or into a Wes Anderson movie). 1/4 community space, 1/4 co-working space, 1/4 cafe and 1/4 playground, Ziferblat, combines a lovely vintage appearance with a very innovative concept and space. In this adult house tree -as they define it- you don’t pay for the things you buy, but for the time you spent. The space is based on democratic (utopic?) principles: everyone is welcomed to go and spend time there, to bring stuff and to suggest ideas for collective activities and events. We are happy to see that it seems to be working very well!

Go ahead and plan a visit at Ziferblat! And if you are a freelance/entrepreneur like us, work from there, it will be very refreshing and inspiring experience.

Ziferblat London: 388 Old Street, London EC1V 9LT

*This visit was recommended to us by The Magic Elephant. You can read an interview of Ziferblat's Founder Ivan Mitin on their website.
